Summer is the hottest and longest season of the year. It begins generally in the month of March and lasts almost until the end of June. During this season, days get hotter and longer whereas nights shorter. In the earlier part of this season, the weather is dry and agreeable. However, everyday it gets warmer and warmer until in May and June the heat becomes intolerable. Sometimes a hot wind called 'loo' blows all the day long. In this season small streams, wells and ponds get dry up. Fruits of various land ripen in the long Summer days. People enjoy eating Summer season fruits like mangoes, watermelons, jackfruits, litchies / lychees, cucumbers etc. Schools, colleges and most educational institutions remain closed during Summer. People in the urban areas enjoy a lot of activities in this season like swimming, tour to the hilly regions, water parks, Summer camps etc.

Rabindranath Tagore
Rabindranath Tagore, popularly known as Gurudev, was born at Jorasanko in Kolkata on May 7th, 1861, in wealthy and cultured family. His father's name was Maharshi Devendra Nath Tagore and mother's name was Sharda Devi. He took his early education at home however higher education England. He began poem writing early in his childhood. He was a patriot, a philosopher, a poet, a novelist, a story writer, an educationist and a singer. However, among all this, he is best known for his occupation for being a poet. His major works included 'Amar Sonar Bangla', 'Geetanjali', 'Ghare Baire' and many other works of literature and art. In 1902, he founded a University at Shantiniketan known as Vishwabharati University. He composed 'Jana Gana Mana', the National anthem of India. In the year 1913, he was bestowed with the Noble award in literature for his English translation of 'Geetanjali'. He was the first Asian to win this prize. He was died in Kolkata on 7th August, 1941.
